Inhibitor Switch

INSPECTION OF OPERATION



1. Verify that the starter operates with the ignition switch at START position and the selector lever in P and N ranges only.
2. Verify that the back-up lights illuminate when shifted to R range with the ignition switch in the ON position.
3. Check the inhibitor switch if not as specified.

INSPECTION OF CONTINUITY







1. Disconnect the inhibitor switch connector.
2. Check continuity of the terminals.




3. If not correct, replace the switch and perform adjustment of the inhibitor switch.
4. If correct, check or adjust the selector lever.
Shift Interlock

ADJUSTMENT




1. Turn the manual shaft to N position.
2. Loosen the inhibitor switch mounting bolts.
3. Align the holes of the inhibitor switch and the manual shaft lever by inserting an approx. 2.0 mm {0.079 in} OD pin.
4. Tighten the mounting bolts.
Tightening torque: 8 - 11 N.m {80 - 110 kg.cm, 69 - 95 in.lbf}

5. Recheck the continuity of the inhibitor switch.
6. If not correct, replace the inhibitor switch.




7. Connect the selector lever.
Tightening torque: 44 - 64 N.m {4.5 - 6.5 kg.m, 33 - 47 ft.lbf}
