Parking Brake System: Adjustments

1. Depress brake pedal several times.
2. Check clearance between lever and stopper pin at rear brake caliper. Clearance should be less than 0.08 inch (2 mm).
3. If clearance is not less than specified, turn adjusting nut counterclockwise to lengthen parking brake cable.
4. Check stroke of parking brake lever when pulled with a force of 22 lbs. If stroke is not 5 - 7 notches, adjust as follows:
a. Raise and support vehicle.
b. Depress brake pedal several times, then turn adjusting nut.
c. Ensure parking brake warning light illuminates when brake lever is pulled one notch, then lower vehicle.
