1. Relieve fuel system pressure.2. Disconnect battery ground cable, then drain engine coolant.
3. Drain engine oil, then remove engine undercover.
4. Disconnect the engine control unit electrical connectors from Engine Control Unit (ECU).
5. Remove the transmission.

6. Remove engine in the order shown in Figs. 2 through 5, noting the following:
a. After removing strut bar, reinstall locknuts.
b. Label electrical connectors shown in Fig. 3, for assembly, then disconnect engine wiring harness from engine.
c. Remove the engine compartment fuse panel with the electrical harness still connected.
d. Using Adjusting Wrench tool No. 49-W023-585A or equivalent, remove power steering oil pump pulley.
e. Remove power steering oil pump from engine assembly with hoses still connected. Position pump aside with wire.
f. Remove air conditioning compressor with hoses connected. Position compressor aside with wire.
7. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Refer to Fig. 3 for electrical connector locations.
b. Tighten all components to specifications.
