Turbo Control Actuator

SYSTEM INSPECTION

Turbo Control Actuator System Inspection:






1. Connect SST, or equivalent, to ECU.
2. Start engine and verify that actuator rod moves out once.
3. Run at idle. Short ECU terminal 4R and verify that actuator rod is pulled in.
4. If actuator rod does not move, check:
^ Vacuum lines and fittings, connections, and components for leaks.
^ Visually inspect vacuum and pressure chamber for clogging, cracks, or other damage.
^ Turbo control solenoid valve.
^ Turbo control actuator.

ACTUATOR CHECK

Turbo Control Actuator Check:






1. Disconnect vacuum hose and attach SST as shown.
2. Adjust compressed air pressure to 7.1 psi (49 kPa).
3. Verify that actuator rod moves when applying and releasing air pressure.

CAUTION: Do not allow air pressure to exceed 11.5 psi (79.4 kPa).

4. If not as specified, replace actuator.
