Front Upper Arm

Fig. 13, Upper Arm And Related Components:






1. Disassemble in the order shown in Fig. 13, noting the following:
a. Check upper arm for wear or damage. Check control arm bushings for deterioration or wear. Check ball joint preload as follows:
b. Shake and rotate the ball joint stud at least five times.
c. Connect Spring Scale and Adapter tool No. 49-0180-510B or equivalents, to ball joint stud.
d. Rotate the ball joint stud. Starting torque should be between 18-52 inch lbs.
e. Continued rotation torque should be 3.5-10.4 inch lbs.
f. If spring pressure is not as specified, replace upper arm.
2. Assemble in the reverse order shown in Fig. 13.
