1. On single speed fans, disconnect fan motor connector, connect a battery and ammeter to fan motor as in Fig. 1.
2. On two speed fans, disconnect fan connector, connect a battery and ammeter to connector for low speed testing, Fig. 4.
3. On single speed fans, ensure fan operates smoothly. and amperage is between 5.6 - 7.6 amps. If not, replace fan motor.
4. On two speed fans, ensure fan operates at low speed, and amperage is 8.8A ± 10%. If not, replace fan motor.
5. Connect battery, ammeter and switch to high speed side of two speed fan, Fig. 5. Turn switch On and ensure fan operates smoothly. Amperage should be 13.3 amps ± 10%. If not, replace fan motor.
