Ignition Timing: Adjustments
PREPARATIONFig. 2 Diagnostic Connector:
1. Warm engine to operating temperature.
2. Turn all electrical loads "OFF."
3. Connect the SST #49 B019 9A0 to data link connector.
NOTE: If SST is not used, jump across the TEN and GND terminals of the data link connector.

4. Connect tachometer to data link connector IG- terminal.
5 Connect timing light
6. Set SST switch "A" to position 1.
7. Set TEST SW to SELF-TEST.
ADJUSTMENT
Timing Mark:
1. Check that timing mark (yellow) on crankshaft pulley and mark on timing belt cover are aligned:
TIMING
B6: 6° - 8° BTDC
BP SOHC: 4° - ± BTDC
BP DOHC: 9° - 11° BTDC
2. If marks are not aligned, loosen lock bolts and turn distributor to make adjustment.
3. Tighten lock bolts:
TORQUE: 14 - 19 ftlb (19 - 25 Nm)
4. Disconnect SST or remove jumper wire.
