Cooling System: Testing and Inspection

SYSTEM OPERATION





1. Connect the data link connector terminals TEN and GND with a jumper wire.
2. Turn the ignition switch ON.





3. Rotate the throffle link by hand and verify that cooling fan operates.



ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR (FAN)

Removal

1. Disconnect the ECTS (engine coolant temperature sensor) connection.





2. Remove the ECTS.



Inspection





1. Place the sensor in water with a thermometer. Heat the water gradually.





2. Measure resistance of the sensor.
3. If not as specified, replace the ECTS.

Installation





1. Install a new washer and the ECTS.

Tightening torque: 16-23N.m fl.6-2.4 kgfm, (12-17 ft-Ibf)

2. Connect the ECTS connector.
3. Start the engine and check for coolant leakage.
