Clearing Trouble Codes

AFTER-REPAIR PROCEDURE

After-Repair Procedure:

1. Run KOEO self-test.
2. When diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) begin to display, deactivate self-test by unlatching center button (up position) on Super Star II tester.
3. PCME continuous memory will be erased.

NOTE: Do not disconnect battery to clear continuous memory. This will erase the Keep Alive Memory (KAM) information which may cause driveability problems.

CLEARING KEEP ALIVE MEMORY (KAM)
Disconnect negative battery cable for a minimum of 5 minutes.

NOTE: The PCME stores information about vehicle operating conditions and uses this information to compensate for component tolerance. When an emission related component is replaced, KAM should be cleared to erase information stored by the PCME from the original component.

HOW TO RESTORE KEEP ALIVE MEMORY
After KAM has been cleared, the vehicle may exhibit certain driveability concerns. It is necessary to drive the vehicle 10 miles to allow the processor to relearn values for optimum driveability and performance.
