Knock Sensor: Service and Repair

Knock Sensor R&R:

WARNING:
^ Fuel vapor is hazardous. It can easily ignite, causing serious injury and damage. Always keep sparks and flames away from fuel.
^ Fuel line spills and leaks are dangerous. Fuel can ignite and cause serious injuries, death, and property damage. Fuel can also irritate skin and eyes.

COMPONENTS

1. Air hose
2. Intake manifold
3. Bypass pipe
4. Water pipe
5. Knock sensor

REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. Remove in order shown, referring to REMOVAL NOTE.
2. Inspect all parts and repair or replace as necessary.
3. Install in reverse order of removal, referring to INSTALLATION NOTE.

REMOVAL NOTE
Drain coolant into a container before removing intake manifold.

INSTALLATION NOTE
Use the SST (49 H018 011) or equivalent to remove and install knock sensor.
