Fuel Delivery and Air Induction: Description and Operation

System Diagram:

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Vehicle is equipped with a 2.5L, V-6 gasoline engine with computer controlled electronic fuel injection system. System maintains an air/fuel mixture as close as possible to the ideal stoichiometric ratio, for all operating conditions. The computer (Powertrain control module, PCME) monitors various sensors mounted on the engine, including an exhaust gas oxygen sensor, using this information to determine quantity of fuel needed. Fuel is supplied to injectors at high pressure and PCME energizes injectors for varying lengths of time, depending on amount of fuel required.
