Throttle Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection
THROTTLE POSITION SENSORThrottle Position Sensor Inspection:
1. Connect Engine Signal Monitor and Adapter Harness, or aftermarket equivalents, to PCME.
2. Set Signal Monitor to position 2F.
3. Turn ignition ON. Rotate throttle by hand and verify that voltage is within specification, and make sure that voltage change is linear.
4. With throttle fully closed, voltage at PCME terminal 2F should be 0.1 - 1.1V. At wide open throttle, voltagte should be 3.1 - 4.4V.
5. If not as specified, adjust sensor.
IDLE SWITCH
Idle Switch Inspection:
NOTE: Throttle adjust screw is factory set and must not be adjusted. Any adjustment will negatively affect engine performance.
1. Unplug sensor connector.
2. Connect ohmmeter to terminals IDL and GND.
3. Insert a feeler gauge between throttle stop screw and stopper lever. Check continuity of switch.
4. With 0.006 in (0.15 mm) feeler gauge, there should be continuity. With 0.020 in (0.50 mm) gauge, there should be no continuity.
5. If not as specified, adjust switch.
