REMOVAL/INSTALLATION PROCEDURES - FRONT RIGHT SIDE AND BOTH REAR DOOR TRIM(S)
APPLICABLE MODELS/VINS
All 1993 And 1994 626/MX-6 Vehicles
DESCRIPTION
The interior door trim(s) (excluding the driver's side door), are supported by a metal center clip that inserts into a plastic base located near the interior door handle.
NOTE:
During removal and installation, it is not necessary to replace trim(s) and/or center clip(s).
1. To remove the door trim(s), the metal center clip MUST be detached from the plastic base. If the center clip is not removed, difficulty in removal and/or damage to the trim(s) will occur.
NOTE:
The metal clip will only detach from the plastic base in an upward direction.
2. To install the door trim(s), do not attempt to remove the metal center clip from the plastic retainer on the trim(s). This will result in damage to the trim(s), metal center clip(s) or both. Follow the procedure below to ensure no damage occurs to the trim(s) and/or metal center clip(s) during removal or installation.
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove all outer retaining screws and clips. Refer to the instruction in section S of the workshop manual.
2. Gently pull on the bottom of the door trim to loosen the inner retaining clips.
NOTE:
Care should be taken not to pull the trim too far outward or damage the lower door weather-strip.
3. Lift the trim upward about 1 (one) inch (25 mm) to detach the metal center clip from the plastic base.
NOTE:
The metal center clip will only detach from the plastic base in an upward direction.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Locate the metal center clip through interior door handle hole.
NOTE:
To obtain a better view of the metal center clip, the interior door handle may have to be moved by removing the retaining screw.
2. Maneuver the trim so the metal center clip is above the plastic base.
3. Press the trim panel firmly against the door using the trim panel handle.
4. Move the trim panel downward to set the metal center clip into the plastic base.
5. Finish installing the door trim panel. Refer to the instructions in section S of the workshop manual.
