Clutch: Service and Repair
1. Disconnect clutch release cylinder, Fig. 5.Fig. 5 Exploded View Of Clutch Assembly:
2. Remove transaxle as outlined in Transaxle.
3. Remove boot, then the release bearing and release fork.
4. Install special ring gear brake tool No. 49E0111A0 and special clutch disc centering tool No. 49SE01310A, or equivalents, then loosen clutch cover attaching bolts in crisscross pattern until spring tension is released.
5. Remove clutch cover and disc.
6. If replacing pilot bearing, remove using special slide hammer tool No. 491285071, or equivalent.
7. Remove flywheel retaining bolts gradually using crisscross pattern, then remove flywheel.
8. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. On models with 4-cylinder engine, flywheel bolts require sealant. New factory bolts come with sealant applied. If reusing bolts, remove all old sealant and apply new. Remove old sealant from bolt holes.
b. Tighten flywheel and clutch cover bolts to specifications in crisscross pattern.
