SYSTEM INSPECTION
1. Verify that the transmission is in P range.
2. Connect a tachometer to the data link connector IG-terminal.
3. Connect the special service tools (SST)s (Engine Signal monitor and Adapter) to the powertrain control module engine (PCME).
4. Warm-up the engine to normal operating temperature and let it idle.
4. Set 3U, 3V, 3W, 3X, 3Y, and 3Z positions respectively on the SST to check the injectors.
5. Verify that both indicator lamps flash at idle.
6. Increase the engine speed to 4,000 rpm and then suddenly release the throttle.
7. Verify that the red indicator lamp illuminated while the engine speed is above approx. 1,700 rpm on deceleration.
