Fuel Pump: Service and Repair

Replacement
1. Remove the amplifier and the CD changer, if equipped.
2. Lift up the rear floor mat.
3. Disconnect the fuel pump connector.
4. Disconnect the fuel hoses.
5. Remove the fuel pump and fuel tank gauge sender unit assembly.
6. Use a new rubber seal, and install in the reverse order of removal.
7. Verify that all fuel hoses are securely fit.




Disassembly / Assembly
A. Disassemble in the order shown in the figure.
B. Assemble in the reverse order of disassembly, referring to "Assembly Note".
1. Bracket.
2. Rubber Mount.
3. Fuel Pump (Refer to "Assembly Note").
4. Fuel Filter.
5. Fuel Gauge Sender Unit.








Assembly Note:
1. Do not apply excessive side force when pushing the fuel hose on to the fuel pump nipple.
2. Install the clamps as shown.
3. After installing the fuel pump to the bracket, pull the pump down so that it is tight against the bracket.
