Fuel Delivery and Air Induction: Service and Repair
INTAKE AIR SYSTEM - COMPONENT PARTSRemoval / Inspection / Installation
WARNING: Fuel vapor is hazardous. It can very easily ignite, causing serious injury and damage. Always keep sparks and flames away from fuel. Fuel in the fuel system is under high pressure when the engine is not running. Fuel line spills and leaks are dangerous. Fuel can ignite and cause serious injuries or death and damage. Fuel can also irritate skin and eyes. To prevent this, always complete the "Fuel Line Safety Procedures".

Removal / Installation
1. Remove in the order shown in the diagram, and refer to Removal Note.
2. Inspect the intake air system components visually and repair or replace if necessary.
3. Install in the reverse order of removal, and refer to Installation Note.
Removal Note:
1. Before removing the throttle body, drain about 2 L (2.1 US qt, 1.8 Imp qt) of the engine coolant.
2. Add the necessary amount of engine coolant.
Installation Note:
1. Install the intake manifold washers with the white paint mark upward.
2. Tighten the nuts to specification in two steps in the sequence shown in the figure.
Tightening Torque, Intake Manifold: 19-25 Nm (14-19 ft.lb.)
Throttle Body / Inspection
1. Check the throttle body for wear, deposits and coolant leakage.
2. Check if the throttle valve moves smoothly when the throttle lever is moved from fully closed to fully open.
3. Replace the throttle body if necessary.
NOTE: The Throttle Adjust Screw is set at the factory and must not be adjusted. Any adjustment will negatively effect the engine performance.
Intake Manifold / Inspection
1. Visually check for cracks or damage and replace if necessary.
2. Check for distortion of the intake manifold and replace if necessary.
Dynamic Chamber / Inspection
1. Visually check for cracks or damage and replace if necessary.
2. Check for distortion of the dynamic chamber and replace if necessary.
