Automatic Transmission/Transaxle: Adjustments
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.2. Remove front and rear console as follows:
a. Remove switch panel, then disconnect switch panel electrical connector.
b. Remove rear console screws, then the rear console.
c. Remove boot panel, then the front ashtray.
d. Remove audio unit, then disconnect electrical connector and antenna jack.
e. Remove front console screws, then the console.
3. Remove indicator screws and lift up indicator panel.
4. Shift selector lever to P position and loosen locknut.
5. Adjust lever to clearance between guide plate and guide pin in P position with push rod lightly depressed is as shown, Fig. 7.
6. Torque locknut to 15 - 20 ft.lb., then move selector lever to N position and D range, verifying clearance between guide plate and guide pin is same at both positions. If not as specified, adjust lever as before.
7. Install and adjust indicator panel, noting the following:
a. Install selector sleeve and selector lever knob to selector lever, then position hold switch harness, Fig. 8.
b. Insert connect pin to connector, then shift selector lever to N position.
c. Align alignment holes in slider with holes in indicator panel, then install suitable gauge wire to hold slider.
d. Install indicator screws and torque to 18 - 26 in.lb.
e. Remove gauge wire and ensure selector lever properly aligns with indicator in each range.
8. Install front and rear console as follows:
a. Install front console, then the screws.
b. Connect audio unit electrical connector and antenna jack, then install audio unit.
c. Install front ashtray, then the boot panel.
d. Install rear console, then the screws.
e. Connect switch panel electrical connector, then install switch panel.
9. Connect battery ground cable.
