Electric Load Sensor: Description and Operation
PURPOSEThe electric load sensor is an internally functioning feature of the powertrain control module engine (PCME). The PCME monitors certain inputs connected to electrical accessory circuits. If any of the monitored circuits are operated the PCME judges the circuit as an electrical load and can adjust PCME output signals to compensate for the additional load. This results in smoother engine operation especially at idle.
OPERATION
PCME monitored circuits for E/L Operation (Electric Load):
- Coolant fan relay Internally monitored
- Headlight PCME terminal 1U
- Blower motor PCME terminal 1S
- Rear window defroster PCME terminal 2I
