TEST OVERVIEW
The Switch Monitor Function provides a means to monitor the operation of various switches and their related input circuits to the vehicle control modules.
View: Special Service Tool:
Checking switch operation is possible by viewing a monitor lamp on the Special Service Tool SST.
- When a particular switch is activated, the monitor lamp is illuminated.
- When the switch is deactivated, the monitor lamp should turn OFF.

If the monitor lamp fails to illuminate or fails to turn OFF for any given switch under the conditions in Fig.1, then the switch and related circuit should be tested further.
DEACTIVATED SWITCH TEST
Switch Monitor Function Test Connections:
- Connect the Special Service Tool SST to the data link connector as shown.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
View: Deactivated Switch Test:
- Set conditions to deactivate all switches and verify the monitor lamp is not illuminated.
- The monitor lamp will remain illuminated if any switch fails to deactivate. Check any failed switches and their related circuits.
