1995 - 97 Protege
1992 - 95 MX-3 with a B6 engine

DESCRIPTION

A squeal noise may be heard while operating the clutch pedal. The noise is caused by insufficient lubricant between the release fork and the pivot pin.

Customers complaining of this noise should have inspected and if necessary, repair according to this bulletin.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify the concern.

^ If the noise is heard during clutch pedal operation, proceed to step 2.

^ If the noise is not heard during clutch pedal operation, refer to the NVH or workshop manual.

2. Lift vehicle and remove splash shield.





3. Slide the dust cover (boot) from the clutch release fork onto the clutch release cylinder.

4. Push the clutch release fork toward the engine by hand.





5. Apply molybdenum sulfide or molybdenum disulfide grease onto the edge of a screwdriver.

6. Insert the end of the screwdriver between the pivot pin and the clutch release fork to apply grease.

7. With screw driver inserted, move the release fork back and forth several times to ensure that the grease is penetrating the problem area.

CAUTION:
Do not over fill area with grease.
