Throttle Position Sensor/Switch: Testing and Inspection

Inspection Of Voltage (Variable Resistance)
1. Connect a circuit tester to terminal 2T of powertrain control module transaxle (PCMT).
2. Turn the ignition switch ON.
3. Check the voltage.

Voltage Readings:
@ Closed throttle position: 0.1 - 1.1 Volts
@ Wide open throttle: 3.1 - 4.4 Volts

4. If not as specified, replace or adjust the throttle position sensor.

Inspection Of Continuity (Idle Switch)
1. Disconnect the throttle position sensor connector.

Check Continuity As Shown:

2. Connect an ohmmeter to the throttle position sensor terminal IDL and GND.

3. Insert a feeler gauge between the stopper and the throttle lever and check the continuity between terminals.
4. If not as specified, replace or adjust the throttle position sensor.

NOTE: Refer to computers and control systems, Throttle Position Sensor, for further information regarding throttle position sensor adjustments or replacement.
