Crankshaft Position Sensor 1

CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR 1

WARNING:
- Before performing the following operation,disconnect injector connector.
- When checking sensor, never connect the distributor 3-pin connector.



View: Distributor Removed For Crankshaft Position Sensor 1 Testing:





1. Remove distributor.
2. Plug in distributor 6-pin connector. Unplug fuel injector connector.
3. Turn ignition ON.

4. Connect special service tools (SST)s (engine signal monitor and adapter harness) to powertrain control module engine (PCME) as shown in image.
5. Rotate distributor by hand and measure output voltage.


Crankshaft Position Sensor 1 Test Specifications:





6. At PCME terminal 3E (SGT signal), there should be 6 pulses per revolution of approximately 5 Volts each. At terminal 3G (SGC signal), there should be 1 pulse per revolution of approximately 5 Volts.

7. Re-install distributor and set timing after completing tests.

Ignition Timing: 9-11° BTDC

8. Tighten distributor lock bolts to specification.

Torque: 19-25 Nm (14-18 ft.lb.)
