Data Link Connector: Description and Operation

PURPOSE
The data link connector (DLC) provides a means of interfacing with several vehicle systems for trouble shooting purposes and/or facilitating certain system adjustments.

Special Service Tools (SST):

OPERATION
The DLC facilitates the following functions through a combination of terminal connections and/or the use of special service tools (SST).
- FEN terminal: self test output (for SST buzzer)
- TEN terminal: self test input (self-diagnosis)
- F/P terminal: fuel pump test terminal
- MEN terminal: self test output (for SST lamp, oxygen sensor and switch function monitor)
- IG terminal: tachometer signal
- +B terminal: supplies battery power (for SSTs)
- GND terminal: supplies ground (for circuit jumpers and SSTs)

CONSTRUCTION
The DLC is a concentrated group of 25 pin terminals that stem from various systems.
