A/C Cut-Off Control System

PURPOSE
A/C cut-off system is designed to improve idle smoothness just after starting, improve acceleration performance and prevent engine overheating.

OPERATION
The powertrain control module engine (PCME) controls this system according to inputs from several sensors. The PCME initiates A/C cut-off under specified driving conditions by de-energizing the A/C clutch relay.

A/C is cut under these conditions:
- For approximately 5 seconds after engine start
- For approximately 5 seconds when the throttle is fully open
- Coolant temperature over 113°C (235°F); cycles ON/OFF (10sec.) until coolant temperature falls to 107°C (225°F)
