Engine Load Signal: Description and Operation

BASIC OPERATION
The engine load signal is an internal function of the powertrain control module engine (PCME). The signal is based on inputs from other systems that create an engine load when operating.
The PCME uses "load signal information" to compensate for changes in engine load via the idle speed control system.

The PCME monitors inputs from:
- Electrical Load ON
- Load signals are sent to the PCME from the blower fan control (2nd position or higher), headlights, fog lights, and rear window defroster.
- Air Conditioner ON (A/C sensor)
- Power steering operation (Steering pressure sensor)
