With Automatic Transaxle (ATX)
SWITCH MONITOR FUNCTION TEST OVERVIEWIndividual switches can be inspected by the special service tools (SST)s (Self-Diagnosis Checker and System Selector).
TEST PREPARATION
The TEN terminal of the data link connector must be grounded and the ignition switch turned to ON (engine off). If any switch remains activated, the monitor light will be illuminated. If switches are deactivated the monitor light should be OFF.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
1. Connect the SST (System Selector) to the data link connector.
2. Set switch A to position 1.
3. Set TEST SW to SELF-TEST
4. Connect the SST (Self-Diagnosis Checker) to the System Selector and a ground.
5. Set the select switch of the Self-Diagnosis Checker to position A.
6. Turn the ignition switch ON.
7. Pull the parking brake.

8. Verify that the monitor light illuminates when each switch is made to function as described. If the monitor light fails to illuminate or fails to turn OFF for any given switch under the conditions in Fig.1, then the switch and related circuit should be tested further.
Deactivated Switch Test:
DEACTIVATED SWITCH TEST
Set conditions to deactivate each switch.
Is the monitor light OFF with all switches deactivated?
Monitor Light Is OFF--OK.
- Proceed with individual switch ON/OFF tests.
Monitor Light Stays ON--NG.
- If monitor lamp remains illuminated then each switch and related harness needs inspection until the faulty circuit and/or switch is identified.
