Neutral Switch (MTX)

PURPOSE
The neutral switch signals the powertrain control module engine (PCME) that the manual transaxle gear selector is either in neutral or any other position.

CONSTRUCTION
The neutral switch and the clutch switch are "ON/OFF" type switches. Both switches share the same PCME input terminal 1R.

OPERATION
The PCME uses the inputs in calculations for the control of these output systems and/or devices:
- A/C relay (A/C cut-off control system)
- BAC Valve (Idle air control valve-idle speed)
- Fuel injection quantity
- Igniter (timing control)
- Pressure regulator control solenoid valves (fuel pressure)
- Purge solenoid valve (purge control)
- Self-diagnosis checker (monitor lamp)
