Exhaust Gas Recirculation: Testing and Inspection

View: Special Service Tools For EGR System Inspection:

1. Connect special service tools (SST)s to the powertrain control module engine (PCME) as shown.
- SST-49 G018 904 Overlay Sheet
- SST-49 9200 162A Engine Signal Monitor
- SST-49 G018 903 Adapter Harness
2. Start engine. Accelerate engine and verify PCME terminals 3O and 3P read battery voltage while engine is still cold.
3. Warm engine to operating temperature.
4. Drive vehicle and verify Engine Signal Monitor green and red lights flash when SST is set to 3O and 3P.

5. Unplug EGR solenoid valve (vacuum) connector. Apply battery voltage across solenoid connectors.
6. Engine should run rough or stall at idle.
