Idle Speed/Throttle Actuator - Electronic: Testing and Inspection

ISC System Check:

BYPASS AIR CONTROL VALVE

Air Valve

1. Start this test with engine cold. Connect data link connector terminals TEN and GND with a jumper wire.
2. Connect tachometer to data link connector IG- terminal and start engine. When using an externally powered timing light and/or tachmeter, connect it to the power conector (Blue: 1-pin).

CAUTION: Grounding the power connector terminal will burn out the 20A wiper fuse.

3. Idle speed should gradually decrease as engine warms up.

Idle Air Control Valve

1. Unplug idle air control valve connector.
2. Check resistance across valve terminals. It should be 10.7 - 12.3 ohms @ 68°F (20°C).
3. If not as specified, replace valve.
