DESCRIPTION
626/MX-6 models with an in-line 4cylinder engine and a CD4E automatic transaxle may experience a high speed stumble at steady speeds of 40 - 65 MPH. The stumble is felt as a momentary loss of power or a miss. The occurrence of the stumble is approximately once per hour but can vary greatly. Noise on the Vbatt circuit (a reference voltage used by the EECIV control module) is interpreted by the EECIV as a valid signal from the distributor. An error occurs in the module and synchronization is momentarily lost causing a stumble. A countermeasure EECIV module with a noise filter is available to correct this problem.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Verify the complaint occurs intermittently and only at a steady speed. if the stumble occurs other than as described, refer to the workshop manual for troubleshooting procedures.
2. Check the service codes stored in the control unit. If no service codes are found, proceed to the next step. If service codes are present, refer to the workshop manual for troubleshooting procedures.
3. Verify that the EECIV module present in the vehicle has a production code of "F" or earlier.
4. Replace the EECIV module with a countermeasure part.
