Idle Speed: Adjustments

PREPARATION

Fig. 2 Diagnostic Connector:

1. Warm engine to operating temperature.
2. Turn all electrical loads "OFF."
3. Connect the SST #49 B019 9A0 to data link connector.

NOTE: If SST is not used, jump across TEN and GND terminals of data link connector.

4. Connect tachometer to data link connector IG- terminal.
5 Connect timing light
6. Set SST switch "A" to position 1.
7. Set TEST SW to SELF-TEST.

ADJUSTMENT

Fig. 6 Idle Adjustment:

1. Apply parking brake. Check that idle speed is within specification:

IDLE SPEED: 700 - 800 rpm

NOTE: Check with electric coolant fan "OFF." When parking brake is not applied, idle speed for ATX Canadian model is approx. 800 rpm.

2. If not within specification, adjust with air adjusting screw.
3. After adjustment, disconnect SST or jumper wire.
