Audio Anti-Theft System Deactivation
The radio coded theft protection system will render the radio inoperativeif the battery is low or disconnected, or if audio system connectors are disconnected. The radio must be recoded when reconnected. Obtain and record the four digit code prior to disconnecting battery or radio. Complete steps 1 through 3 within 10 seconds or setting procedure will be cancelled.
1. Turn ignition switch to ACC and turn off radio.
2. Press and hold SCAN and AUTO-M buttons simultaneously for approximately two seconds until "CODE" appears on display, Fig. 1.

3. Press SCAN and AUTO-M buttons again until bars appear on display, Fig. 2.

4. Use channel buttons 1 through 4 to input code number. Press button 1 for first digit, 2 for second digit, 3 for third digit, and 4 for last digit, Fig. 3.

5. With code number displayed, press and hold SCAN and AUTO-M buttons for approximately two seconds until a "beep" is heard. The word "CODE" will be displayed for approximately five seconds, Fig. 4. After it disappears, the theft protection system is set.

6. If "Err" (error) appears on the display, repeat procedure from step 1. Three consecutive errors, including turning ignition switch to OFF and disconnecting power or radio, may activate theft protection system and render radio completely inoperative requiring service by radio manufacturer or dealer.
