Exhaust Temperature Sensor: Description and Operation

Purpose
If floor temperature reaches a potentially dangerous level because of converter overheating, a warning light illuminates on center console and sensor signals powertrain control module engine (PCME).

Operation
To cool the converter and diminish the hazard, PCME turns "OFF" air pump magnetic clutch, which stops air injection to the converter.

Sensor is an "ON / OFF" switch that turns warning light "ON" when heated to 95-105°C (203-221°F)
