Automatic Transmission/Transaxle: Adjustments

1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove console panel.
2. Remove indicator screws and lift up indicator panel.
3. Shift selector lever to P position, then loosen locknut.
4. Adjust lever so clearance between guide plate and guide pin in P position is as shown, Fig. 7.

5. Torque locknut to 15 - 20 ft.lb., then move selector lever to N position and D range. Verify clearance between guide plate and guide pin is same at both positions. If not as specified, readjust lever.
6. Install and adjust indicator panel as follows:
a. Shift selector lever to P position, then align alignment holes in slider with holes in indicator panel.
b. Install suitable heavy-gauge wire to hold slider, then torque indicator screws to 18 - 26 in.lb.
c. Remove wire, then verify selector lever properly aligns with indicator in each range.

7. Install console panel, then connect battery ground cable.
