Ignition Coil: Testing and Inspection
INSPECTIONPrimary coil winding
1. Disconnect the 3-pin connector from the distributor.
2. Use an ohmmeter to measure resistance of the primary coil winding.
3. If not within the specification, replace the distributor.
Specification: 0.49-0.73 Ohms [at 20°C {68°F}]
Secondary coil winding
1. Disconnect the 3-pin connector from the distributor.
2. Remove distributor cap.
3. Use an ohmmeter to measure resistance of the secondary coil winding.
4. If not within the specification, replace the distributor.
Specification: 20-31 k Ohms [at 20°C {68°F}]
