Exhaust Gas Recirculation: Testing and Inspection

Connect Special Service Tools As Shown:

1. Connect special service tools (SST)s to the engine control module (ECM) as shown.
2. Start engine. Drive vehicle and verify ECM terminals 1R and 1T read battery voltage while engine is still cold.
3. Warm engine to operating temperature.
4. Drive vehicle and verify Engine Signal Monitor (SST #49 9200 162A) green and red lights flash when SST is set to 1R and 1T.
5. Ground ECM terminal 1T with jumper wire. Engine should run rough or stall at idle.
