Evaporative Emissions System: Testing and Inspection

INSPECTION
1. Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature.
2. Run the engine at idle.
3. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the purge solenoid valve.




4. Check that no vacuum is felt.
5. Input a load signal to the ECM.




MTX model
Disconnect the [1][2]neutral switch connector.

ATX model
Position the vehicle on a chassis roller and shift the selector lever to D range.

6. Connect a tachometer and increase the engine speed to 1,000 rpm.




7. Verify that vacuum is felt after approx. 2 sec.
