Alternator: Testing and Inspection
1 Ensure battery is at full charge and drive belt tension is satisfactory.2. Place ignition switch in On position and ensure alternator warning lamp illuminates. If it does not, inspect warning lamp bulb and circuit.
3. Start engine and ensure warning lamp goes out. If it does not, ensure all accessories are off, then proceed as follows:
a. Measure voltage at alternator terminal L, Fig. 9, using a suitable voltmeter.

b. If voltage is not as specified under Alternator Specifications, replace alternator assembly.
c. If voltage is as specified, inspect wiring circuit between terminal L and warning lamp for a short and repair as necessary.
