CENTER ARMREST LATCH SUPPORT REINFORCEMENT INSTALLATION
APPLICABLE MODELS

DESCRIPTION
The latch lid on the center armrest becomes unlatched because of inadequate force required to hold the latch engaged. All level four (4) center armrests DO NOT require a countermeasure fix. Customers complaining of this concern should have the vehicle inspected and if necessary, repaired according to this bulletin.
NOTE:
Four (4) levels of Protege center armrests are available. If a level one (1) center armrest is found, the entire center armrest console assembly should be replaced.
REPAIR PROCEDURE: (For Levels 2 and 3 only)
1. Open center armrest lid and remove the lid from the console. Remove two (2) phillips screws.
2. Carefully separate the inner cover from the lid by prying the cover out with a fiber stick.
3. Remove latch from the lid by removing the phillips head screw.
^ Separate four (4) tape pad support pieces from the block.
^ Affix the two (2) pads together.
4. Place two (2) tape pad support blocks that were affixed together into each corner of the latch cavity by gently pushing the tape pad into place.
NOTE:
Each individual tape pad has two (2) longer sides. Both longer sides need to be installed on the edge of the latch cavity to prevent the tape pad support blocks from being pushed down into the latch cavity.
5. Reinstall all parts that were removed.
