Variable Inertia Charging System (VICS)

Inspection
1. Connect the tachometer to the IG- terminal of the data link connector.
2. Start the engine and run it at idle.
3. Verify that the rod of the shutter valve actuator is not pulled inward.




4. Increase the engine speed gradually and verify that the rod pulled when the engine speed above 4,900 rpm.
5. If there is no operation, inspect the following.
^ PCM terminal voltage
Terminal 4K (VICS control)
Terminal 4F (SGT signal)
^ Shutter valve actuator
^ Vacuum chamber
^ Vacuum hose routing
^ VICS solenoid valve
