Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

Using SSTs (NGS)

INSPECTION
- Check the mass air flow sensor for damage and cracks.

- Connect the SSTs (Engine Signal Monitor) to the ECM.
- Measure the voltage at ECM terminal 3B.

- Verify that the voltage is within the specification.
- If not as specified, inspect the harness and connector between the mass air flow sensor and the ECM terminal.
- If there is correct terminal voltage and harness continuity, replace the mass air flow sensor.

USING THE NGS
- Check the mass air flow sensor for damage and cracks.
- Connect the SSTs (NGS) to the data link connector-2.

- Select the PID/DATA MONITOR AND RECORD function of the NGS.
- Select "MAF V" on the NGS display. The NGS measures and shows the voltage.

- If not as specified, inspect the harness and connector between the mass air flow sensor and the ECM terminal.
- If there is correct terminal voltage and harness continuity, replace the mass air flow sensor.

NOTE: The scan tool shows the mass air flow rate and load value.

INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR
- Disconnect the mass air flow sensor connector.

- Measure the resistance between terminals C and D by using an ohmmeter.

Specification: 2.21 - 2.69 kohms @ 20°C (68°F)

- If not as specified, replace the mass air flow sensor.
