Repair Procedure
1. Verify the customer's complaint.2. Check the EGR boost sensor for disconnected vacuum hose or water/ice in vacuum hose.
If hose is disconnected, proceed to Condition A
If hose contains water or ice, proceed to Condition B
If neither condition is observed, contact the National Technical Hotline at (888) TEC-TIPS.
Condition A - Vacuum Hose Disconnected
1. Remove old vacuum hose between the EGR boost sensor and the EGR valve.
2. Install new hose and clamp it HOSE at the EGR valve as shown in the illustration.
3. Verify the repair.
Condition B - Vacuum Hose Contains Water Or Ice
1. Disconnect the old vacuum hose and wiring harness from the EGR boost sensor.
2. Remove the EGR boost sensor from its bracket and retain the original bolt.
3. Using the original bolt, assemble EGR boost sensor to the bracket supplied with the service kit as shown.
Tightening torque
7.9 - 10.7 Nm, (80-110 Kg-cm, 70-95 in-lb.)
4. Remove the vacuum pipe bracket bolt at the firewall and install the EGR boost sensor/bracket assembly using the same bolt.
Tightening torque
7.9 - 10.7 Nm, (80-110 Kg-cm, 70-95 in-lb.)
5. Connect one end of the kit vacuum hose to the EGR boost sensor and the other end to the EGR valve.
6. Connect kit wiring harness extension to the EGR boost sensor and the original connector.
7. Attach the protector supplied with the kit to the brake vacuum pipe in the location as shown.
8. Secure new vacuum hose to the power brake vacuum pipe using the plastic clip.
9. Secure the wiring harness extension to the protective sleeve using the tie wrap.
10. Verify the repair.
