SYSTEM INSPECTION

AIR VALVE
1. Verify that the engine coolant temperature is below 20°C (68°F).
2. Connect the Special Service Tool SST to the data link connector.
3. Set switch (A) to position 1 and the test switch to SELF TEST
4. Start the engine.
5. Verify that the idle speed decreases gradually as the engine warms up.
6. If the idle speed does not change, replace the BAC valve.

IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE
1. Start the engine and run it at idle.
2. Disconnect the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve connector and verify that the engine rotation changes.
3. If the engine condition will not change, do as follows.
a. Connect the Special Service Tool SST to the data link connector-2.
b. Verify that diagnostic trouble code No. PO5O5 is not displayed. If code No. PO5O5 is shown, carry out troubleshooting of the code No. PO5O5.
c. Change the duty value of the IAC valve to 100% by using the simulation function and verify that the idle speed increases.
I. If the idle speed increase, replace the PCM.
II. If the idle speed does not change, replace the BAC valve.

4. Warm-up the engine to normal operating temperature and run it idle.
5. Turn the electrical load ON and verify that the engine speed is within the specification.

NOTE: Excludes temporary idle speed drop just after the electrical load are turned on.

6. If not as specified, check the related switches and wiring harnesses.
