Crankshaft Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection

Resistance Inspection
1. Disconnect the crankshaft position sensor connector.

Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor Details:




2. Measure the resistance between terminals A and B by using an ohmmeter.

Specification: 520-580 Ohms 20°C (68°F)

3. If not as specified, replace the crankshaft position sensor.

Air Gap Inspection

Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor Details:




1. Verify that the crankshaft position sensor is installed correctly and securely.
2. Measure the air gap between the crankshaft pulley and the crankshaft position sensor by using a feeler gauge.

Specification: 0.5-1.5 mm (0.020-0.059 in.)

3. If not as specified, replace the crankshaft pulley or the crankshaft position sensor.
