DESCRIPTION
The Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) may illuminate while the engine is running and Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC P1794) may be stored in memory. If the "ROOM" fuse is burnt out or if the wrong procedure is used when installing the fuse, the above symptoms may occur.
Customers complaining of this concern should have the vehicle inspected and if necessary, repaired according to this bulletin.
NOTE:
^ Service personnel performing PDI should use this information to diagnose vehicles in inventory.
^ If the "ROOM" fuse is installed after the engine is started (approximately seven (7) seconds after starting the engine) the MIL will illuminate and the DTC 1749 will be stored in memory.
DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE
Inspect the "ROOM" fuse.
1. If the fuse is burnt-out, diagnose the cause and repair as necessary.
^ Install the fuse with the ignition OFF (locked).
^ Start the engine and confirm that the MIL is not illuminating.
^ Erase the DTC from memory.
2. If the fuse is out of position, install in the correct position with the ignition OFF (locked).
^ Start the engine and confirm that the MIL is not illuminating.
^ Erase the DTC from memory.
^ If no problem is found, proceed to step 3.
3. If the fuse is not burnt-out or out of position.
^ Remove the fuse then re-install with the ignition OFF (locked).
IMPORTANT:
If this procedure is not performed properly, the MIL will not be turned off.
^ Stan the engine and confirm that the MIL is not illuminating.
^ Erase the DTC from memory.
4. If the MIL still illuminates, refer to the workshop manual for troubleshooting and repair information.
