Millenia With GF4A-El
The transaxle oil pan could contain small chips, shavings, and other particles helpful in checking the condition of the transaxle and diagnosing certain problems. To ensure all foreign particles stay in the oil pan, make sure the transaxle is never tipped completely over while the oil pan is installed.1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then raise and support vehicle.
2. Drain transaxle fluid into suitable container.
3. Remove battery and battery cover, then the battery cleaner.
4. Remove air cleaner assembly.
5. Remove selector cable clip and nut, then the cable.
6. Disconnect transaxle range sensor connector, then the input/turbine speed sensor connector.
7. Disconnect solenoid valve connector, then remove emission harness bracket.
8. Remove selector cable bracket nut, then the bracket.
9. Remove No. 1 engine mount bracket stay nut and bolt, then the bracket stay.
10. Remove starter bolt, then the starter.
11. Disconnect speedometer sensor connector.
12. Remove intake manifold cover, then disconnect oxygen sensor electrical connector.
13. Remove wheels and tires, then the splash shields and undercover.
14. Remove front exhaust pipe, then the lefthand upper lateral link.
15. Remove lower ball joint.
16. Remove righthand driveshaft as follows:
a. Separate righthand driveshaft from joint shaft by using suitable brass bar and hammer. Sharp edges of driveshaft snap ring can slice or puncture oil seal. Use care when removing driveshaft from transaxle.
b. Suspend driveshaft with rope, then install differential side gear holder tool No. 49 G030 455, or equivalent, into transaxle to hold side gear.
17. Remove joint shaft bolts, then the joint shaft.
18. Install suitable engine support tool, then remove No. 4 engine mount.
19. Remove Nos. 1 and 2 engine mount nuts.
20. Remove engine mounting member bolts, then the member.
21. Remove oil hose.
22. Remove undercover bolts, then the undercovers.
23. Hold driveplate and remove torque converter nuts.
24. Remove No. 2 engine mount, then the engine mount bracket.
25. Remove lefthand driveshaft as follows:
a. Disconnect upper lateral link ball joint, then suspend axle assembly to prevent damage to link bushing.
b. Separate lefthand driveshaft from transaxle by prying with suitable bar inserted between outer ring and transaxle, Fig. 23. Sharp edges of driveshaft snap ring can slice or puncture oil seal. Use care when removing driveshaft from transaxle.
c. Suspend driveshaft with rope, then install differential side gear holder tool No. 49 G030 455, or equivalent, into transaxle to hold side gear.
26. Remove No. 1 engine mount bolts.
27. Loosen engine support tool and lean engine toward transaxle.
28. Support transaxle on jack, then remove transaxle bolts and transaxle.
29. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following torques:
a. Engine mounting member A bolts, 50 - 68 ft.lb., then the B bolts, 55 - 77 ft.lb., Fig. 9.
b. No. 4 engine mount A nuts, 50 - 68 ft.lb., then the B nuts, 32 - 44 ft.lb., Fig. 24.
