EGR Valve Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection
EGR VALVE POSITION SENSOR
Operational Inspection
1. Remove the powertrain control module (PCM).
2. Connect the special service tools (SST) to the PCM.
3. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the EGR valve and connect the vacuum pump to the EGR valve.
4. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
5. Measure the voltage at the terminals as shown in the table below.
6. If not as specified, inspect the harness between EGR valve position sensor and PCM.
7. If the harnesses are OK, replace the EGR valve position sensor.
Resistance Inspection
1. Disconnect the EGR valve position sensor connector.
2. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the EGR valve and connect the vacuum pump to the EGR valve.
3. Use an ohmmeter to measure the resistance between the terminals as shown in the table below.
4. If not as specified, replace the EGR valve.
