Starter Motor: Service and Repair

1. On models with anti-theft audio system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system deactivation procedure.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove battery clamp, battery box, battery and battery tray.
3. Remove selector cable bracket bolts, then bracket and selector cable.
4. Remove starter bracket nuts, then bracket.
5. Disconnect terminal S connector, then terminal B wire.
6. Remove starter bolts, then starter motor.
7. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque starter bolts to 24 - 33 ft.lb., then starter bracket bolts to 87 - 104 in.lb.
b. Torque selector cable bracket bolts to 51 - 87 inch lbs.
