Camshaft Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection

INSPECTION
- Remove the distributor.
- Disconnect the fuel injector connector.
- Connect the distributor connector.

WARNING:
- Turning the ignition switch on with the fuel injector connector still connected will actuate the fuel injector.
- Turning the ignition switch on with the high-tension lead still connected will generate sparks, which can cause electrical shock. Disconnect the high-tension lead and avoid it from grounding to the vehicle body.




- Connect the SSTs (Engine Signal Monitor) to the PCM.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Measure the voltage at PCM terminals 4F.
- Rotate the distributor drive by hand and check the output signal.




- If not as specified, inspect the wiring harness and connector between the distributor and the PCM terminal.
- If there is correct terminal voltage and harness continuity, replace the distributor.
